THE revoluTION OF TOLL ROADS

Abertis group posed us a technological challenge for revolutionizing payment on toll roads developing a mobile-based system without stopping. After a technological feasibility phase, an innovative and advanced system based on Bluetooth has been developed, allowing:

• Passage of vehicles without stopping at speeds of 40 km/h in systems with barrier and over 160 km/h in open or free-flow systems.

• Interaction wihout hands or actions by the user in the route.

Mequonic has developed all system core technology including HW development of antennas and controllers and SW development for controllers and libraries for the mobile apps. We have also developed the reporting and system real-time control enviroment.

After a pre-launch phase in operation during months with real users, the system is ready for commercial service from October 2020 in C32 highway (Barcelona South) with great success. It was subsequently extended to the C16 highway tunnels and AP68 highway in Spain.

Mequonic has supplied and commissioned all necessary antenna control units required for this and continues to evolve the system to extend its capabilities.
